Hitting 4 the Cycle

In 1868, the first bicycling race took place over a 1,200 meter course at the Parc de Saint-Cloud in Paris. Since then, racing has sped throughout the world. Its popularity has grown and the wheeled invention has improved greatly over the wooden frame and iron tires of the late 1800s. In 1968, a hundred years after that first cycling race, FinishMaster opened the doors of its first store.

Now this may be coincidence, but we feel a connection.

In 2011, a FinishMaster team completed the 458-mile trek across Iowa to raise funds for cancer research known as RAGBRAI (The Register’s Annual Great Bicycle Ride Across Iowa). Since then, cycling has become a hobby for many FinishMaster team members, but beyond the sport, the true passion has been cycling for charity.

On August 12, 2017 FinishMaster is putting its helmet back on.

Fifteen of our team members will embark on a 25-mile bike ride at the 2017 Hitting 4 the Cycle Benefit for Brewers Community Foundation’s. Starting and ending in Milwaukee’s Miller Park, participants get to enjoy a celebratory tailgate and the Brewers vs. Cincinnati Reds game after crossing the finish line.

Brewers Community Foundation is a non-profit striving to make a positive difference for families in Greater Milwaukee and Wisconsin. The proceeds from this fundraiser will benefit the Brewers Community Foundation, Urban Ecology Center, DreamBikes, and The American Cancer Society. Our team members are competitive and would love to cross the finish line first, but that is not our main goal. Like the worthy organizations this cycling event supports, our focus is to leave it better than we found it and help a community flourish.

Having a team and being a sponsor makes this an especially exciting opportunity for our FinishMaster family to cheer this event on and celebrate as they cross the finish line together! No matter how far away you are there are opportunities to get involved and support riders. Find out how here: http://brewers.ride-mlb.com/Fundraising2017/Stevearndt
