Take 10 with Paul Halsch

Welcome to our interview series, Take 10! This year, in an effort to give insight to key leaders in the FinishMaster family and learn more about their daily activities, we are featuring a different team member every month. Check out the tenth entry below and stay tuned for more interviews each month!

Name: Paul Halsch

Title and Department: Regional VP / General Manager

Years with FinishMaster: 9 days

Location: Region 4 West

1. What is your favorite Core Value and why? “Be a Family” is my favorite core value. I believe collectively we will make a better decision understanding everyone’s point of view and ensuring a healthy discussion than having one person’s opinion. I am never concerned with “who is right” but always concerned that we “make the right decision.”

2. Outside of work, what do you enjoy doing? I am sports fanatic (GO Lakers & Dodgers!) and enjoy mountain biking, fly fishing, cooking, and fermented grape juice tasting.

3. Tell us about your family. I am the luckiest father and husband in the world. I married my college sweetheart and we will be celebrating our 25th anniversary next year. Juli and I have four wonderful kids that are the light of my life: Andrew, 22; Emma, 20; Elise, 18; & Eric, 15.

4.  What’s a fun fact about yourself? My family and I foster new born puppies from the SPCA. We have had 11 liters thus far and it is great to see these tiny pups grow until they are ready for adoption. However, we recently became “foster failures” as we adopted Lola, a one-year old abandoned Maltipoo that we were asked to take in. She is such a huge part of our family.

5. What is your favorite food and/or the last movie you watched? I love pizza, but there are not many foods that I do not like. Last movie I watched was Guardians of the Galaxy Part II.

6. Why did you decide FinishMaster would be a good fit for the next step in your career? I was very humbled when FinishMaster offered me the opportunity to become part of the family because of the incredible culture. The outpouring of kindness & respect coupled with the professionalism was awe-inspiring to me.

7. What is your motto or personal mantra? Nothing is more important than the team & my team’s career is more important than my own. I love to see my teammates achieve the professional success they desire.

8. Who is your biggest role model/mentor and why? My father. He is the greatest man I know and my biggest hero. He has taught me so much in life that words cannot describe.

9. How do you keep a healthy work/life balance? I am still working on that as I love to work, but I am also cognizant of when I need some downtime.

10. What are the top 3 things still left on your bucket list? Travel to Italy, fly fish in Argentina with my kids, & go to a world series game with the Dodgers.
